demand WORRIES? HUH? After months of rising cost of oil because it appears the world is running out of oil reserves, some relief,… wait, what?

“Oil prices were slightly lower Wednesday, below $122 a barrel, after sliding overnight on expectations that this year’s surge in energy costs is undermining U.S. gasoline demand.”
Am I missing something or are we just at the whim of theorists having no real idea of what is going on?
