It is one thing to be a maverick and do what YOU THINK are the best interests of the people. It is an entirely different thing to just be plain rude with whom you disagree. I blogged about his interest in the League of Democracies a while back (and he even mentioned it again last night) – I think this is just reiterates his lack of openiness and ability take input from people with different opinions (much like our current president).
Full Disclosure: They shake hands right prior Brokaw’s final closing (when he asked them to get out of his way of the tele-prompter). However, I honestly believe that one was “for the cameras.”

Republican presidential nominee John McCain favors what is being called a “league of democracies.” While the details behind would probably have to be more clarified like everything else, it is essentially an international organization of like minded countries.

McCain’s speech about his ideas
In a different time, this might have seemed like a “good” idea, however when you consider that the United Nations, which serves a similar international purpose in a diverisfied form, is probably the reason for this plan. In 2003, the U.N. prevented the U.S. from getting full international support of attacking Iraq until the Weapons of Mass Destruction were located…. hummm, it turns out they were right, there were no weapons of mass destruction to be found. Maybe we should listen to people of differing opinions!
